Miami Dolphins: 3 bold predictions for game vs. 49ers

3. Dolphins sack Jimmy Garoppolo 4 times

Last season, the Dolphins finished in the top-5 in total team sacks, and came in to 2022 with big pass-rush aspirations. Things got off to a slow start as Jaelan Phillips and Emmanuel Ogbah struggled to get to the quarterback, but the defensive front has come on over the last few weeks.

The addition of Bradley Chubb seems to have helped immensely, as Miami has gotten to opposing quarterbacks eight times in their last two games, the same amount that they had in the previous four weeks combined. Though Obgah is out, others have stepped up to fill the void including Phillips, and Melvin Ingram who leads the team with 5 sacks.

It isn’t talked about at length, but the 49ers offensive line isn’t exactly elite. They do a solid job of protecting Jimmy Garoppolo, as he has been sacked just 17 times in 2022. But when he goes down, he goes down often. In 10 games this far, San Francisco’s quarterback has been sacked 3 or more times on three occasions, including four against Denver and five against Kansas City.
