Deep dive: Why do the Miami Dolphins look so different recently?
By Juan Vasquez
Mike McDaniel & Tua Tagovailoa need to make adjustments ASAP:
If before the game vs the Chargers started you would’ve told me that Brandon Staley of all people was going to not only out coach but completely outclass Mike McDaniel, I would’ve laughed in your face and called you crazy.
But this is the NFL, and crazy things happen all the time.
And yeah, Brandon Staley ran circles around Mike McDaniel all night, but what is more concerning was how McDaniel was either refusing to switch things up, or just didn’t know how to adjust.
Mike McDaniel looked like a rookie vs the Chargers and the 49ers, and Tua Tagovailoa looked like what we were used to in 2020 and 2021. Was it really that easy to figure Tua out? Because if that’s the case then he wasn’t really as good as we expected.
And if McDaniel isn’t able to adjust his play calling to new defensive looks then he isn’t as good as we expected either.
I still have hope that these two can figure things out and come out swinging vs the Buffalo Bills. But it’s not looking good.
I’ve said time and time again, going off in September is great, but the difference between pretenders and contenders always shows when you’re able to see who shows up and who folds in December.
Teams that get hot in December usually have the best playoff runs because they are going into it with momentum.
The Miami Dolphins had a momentum that seemed unstoppable just 2 weeks ago, will they be able to get back to form?
Only time will tell.
