Cornerback. TCU. 84. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Tre'ViusHodges-Tomlinson. 59

For a guy who often gets slept on because of his lack of size, he makes up for it with pure athleticism. Not just have any athleticism either, he is a freak athlete.

Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson just won the Jim Thorpe award for best defensive back in the country, and he is going to be fantastic in the NFL and hopefully for our beloved Miami Dolphins. Back to my athletic freak comments, let me just drop some numbers for why.

Hodges-Tomlinson runs a 4.3-second 40-yard dash, has a 42-inch vertical jump, broad jumps 10 feet 8 inches, and back squats 605 pounds. All that while being 5’9 180 lbs. Make it make sense how this guy is that athletic.

He is perfect for the new style of football with smaller receivers and more explosive downfield threats where he is very good at keeping up and stopping those plays. His one issue is that sometimes he can get grabby with his hands if a WR gets a step on him, though it rarely does happen.

He is very good in press coverage and limiting players off the line of scrimmage because of a very powerful punch off the line. His ball skills are great, and he is a fantastic competitor and is extremely confident in his ability against any WR.

He has limitations in the run game because of his size, and he can sometimes get beat by a bigger back or receiver, however, he is a sure tackler at the second level and has become very reliable as the last line of defense.

He also has secondary flexibility and can play anywhere in the defensive backfield which is extremely valuable with all the switches and replacements this defense uses in its blitz packages. He can play everywhere and is one of the best athletes in this draft class.
