I think it’s time for the Miami Dolphins to free Mike Gesicki and actually use him like he’s supposed to be used.

I think we understand that the experiment of Mike Gesicki becoming a viable blocker in Mike McDaniel’s system hasn’t worked and because of that, this will more than likely be Mike Gesicki’s last year in Miami. I’ve accepted that.

What I haven’t accepted is continuing to run this offense, an offense that everyone knows is coming, and leaving a guy you paid $10M for this season on the bench especially when we’re not even trying to run the ball much.

If you’re going to go down, go down with your best players on the field. Mike Gesicki is one of the better players on offense. The guy, typically, catches everything that comes his way, as long as it’s in the field of play. You’re telling me he can’t be a matchup issue going down the seams? I won’t buy that. I think he very much can do that.

He can be the underneath guy running the stick routes for 6-7 yards while Hill and Waddle get all the attention down the field. He can sit in the holes of a zone and collect short-yardage catches.

In the red zone, the guy is 6’6 and can jump out of the building. We saw him snag an incredibly high ball against the Ravens in week 2. What, he can’t do that anymore? I won’t buy that either.

He isn’t going to block anybody too well. We get all that. But he can lineup on or off the ball and go up and get it if Tua can get it anywhere near him. I hope he is getting many more reps this week at practice. He’s a guy that can take the pressure off the whole offense which is something everyone badly needs. Free Gesicki.
