Jim Schwartz has coaching experience and 14 years running quality defensive systems that the Miami Dolphins could benefit from.

Currently, Schwartz is a defensive consultant with the Titans but he has head coaching experience and has been the DC for the Eagles, Titans, and Bills. Schwartz has his hand in the Titans current defensive rankings that has them 12th in overall defense.

In each of his stops, Schwartz has had his defensive units ranked in the upper half of the NFL and he was the Super Bowl winning DC for the Eagles in 2017 helping to hold off the Patriots despite giving up 33 points to the still Tom Brady led offense.

His 14 years of experience as a DC is impressive but the question is will McDaniel go with someone that he isn’t familiar with. He did so with Boyer being held over. It would be surprising to see Schwartz stay with the Titans after the season given the fact he is not the team’s DC and if he does leave, there should be plenty of teams that approach him. Several DC’s currently, could leave after the season for head coaching opportunities.

One potential problem would be the personnel and how it meshes with Schwartz’ ideals. He likes the Wide-9, something Miami used previously but found marginal success with.
