3 sneaky keys for the Miami Dolphins to get back to winning vs the Packers
By Matt Serniak
Jevon Holland reminded us that he is that guy. The Miami Dolphins and Boyer should continue to let him show it.
Jevon Holland has had a bit of a quiet year. It’s nowhere near a sophomore slump or anything like that but I think we had this idea that he was going to jump into the upper echelon of safeties this year and it hasn’t happened.
But last week when Josh Allen was doing his thing, it was Jevon Holland who prevented a ton of big plays and he did it while being screwed down into the box(have fun with that if you’d like). Holland acted like a defacto spy against Allen and he was able to bring him down.
We know he won’t have to play exactly like that because Rodgers isn’t a threat to run around too much but I’d still like to see Holland down in the mud a bit more especially with the running game the Packers have.
Aaron Rodgers and AJ Dillon, who amazingly was out of concussion protocol in like 11 minutes(must be nice), are excellent players, and giving them the ball is what the Packers want to do. Holland is the best tackler out of the secondary players so having him up in the snuff, often, would be a smart thing to do.
Yes, that means that Verone McKinley would probably be the guy back there playing free safety. But with the running game that the Packers present, I’ll take my chances with that.
Holland is a playmaker. I saw him bat a ball down last week as well when was up in the box. I think just getting this guy near the action is a move this defense can take to create some of those turnovers they don’t get anymore. Hopefully, Boyer wants to be creative with the defense again.
Happy Festivus to everyone here. Celebrate the holiday the way it was intended. Make sure you don’t have any tinsel and when it’s time for the feats of strength, don’t try and weasel out of it.
