Baker Mayfield – Los Angeles Rams

After a disastrous stint with the Carolina Panthers, it seemed like Baker Mayfield’s days as a starting quarterback were over, but his short time with the Los Angeles Rams has elevated his value just enough for a team like the Dolphins to give him a shot.

Since landing in L.A. three weeks ago, Mayfield is 2-1 as the starter and has thrown for 571 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception while completing 69 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 98.9. His first start with the Rams came two days after he was claimed off waivers and he led a 98-yard drive against the Raiders to earn a 17-16 win. Last Sunday, the Mayfield-led Rams scored 51 points and blew the doors off Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.

It’s a small sample size, but it shows what Mayfield can do with an offensive coach that knows how to use him. If he was in Miami with the weapons and offensive-minded coach the Dolphins have, it could be a good situation for him.

Daniel Jones – New York Giants

Daniel Jones, aka “Danny Dimes” looked like a bust for the Giants, but when new head coach Brian Daboll arrived in New York, Jones has, at times, looked like a capable starting quarterback this season. With New York declining his fifth-year option, Jones will hit the open market this offseason, and the Dolphins could be a destination if they want to go cheap and surround him with talent.

The Giants are 8-6-1 this season and are fighting for a playoff spot in the NFC. Jones has thrown for 3,028 yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions while completing just under 67 percent of his throws and has a passer rating of 90.7.

Jones to Miami wouldn’t be the most popular move the team could make, but with McDaniel’s offense and the weapons in place, and if the Dolphins were desperate, it wouldn’t be terrible to bring Jones in on a short-term rental contract.
