The Miami Dolphins do not control their own destiny, but the Patriots now do. Miami couldn’t figure out how to beat a bad Patriots team.
New England didn’t play well but they didn’t need to. Miami’s defense did enough but finally, Miami’s inept offense was too much and they let the Patriots into the game.
Teddy Bridgewater had one good drive and then after throwing a pick-six interception that put the Patriots on top for good, left the game with a finger injury after being stiff-armed on the return.
After Bridgewater left, Skylar Thompson was unable to do much more than throw bad passes, and Miami’s chances of winning the game were about over.
New England moves into the 7th seed of the playoffs and Miami is bounced out. If the Patriots beat the Bills next week, they are in the postseason. Miami will need to beat the Jets in Miami and hope that the Bills win and maybe some others as well depending on how the rest of the weekend shakes out.
Miami’s losing streak continues to five games and frankly, they are playing some of the worst football Dolphins fans have seen in years. Mike McDaniel’s offense is not innovative and defenses have figured out how to take Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle out of the game.
Fans knew there would be a problem today with Bridgewater behind center. He has not looked good this year. The calls for Skylar Thompson who looked great in preseason games has been quite quiet since he took over for Bridgewater back in the first month of football with Tua Tagovailoa out.
Next week, Miami may not have Tua back on the field and if they do, it may actually not matter. Miami is a complete mess but a mess with a lot of injuries. Xavien Howard, Terron Armstead, and Bradley Chubb were all out of today’s game.
