Miami Dolphins Chris Grier far more to blame than McDaniel

Mike McDaniel may or may not be on the hot-seat but his future will be discussed a lot should the Miami Dolphins lose on Sunday to the Jets.

Earlier today, we commented on a report from Armando Salguero regarding the future of Chris Grier, Josh Boyer, and Mike McDaniel. You can read that at the link below.

Clearly, McDaniel is weighing on the mind of Stephen Ross. He is not getting any younger and his team is not close to getting to the Super Bowl. He has poured money into the team and the results are the same year after year. With previous attempts to woo Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton, both could be available this off-season, Ross has a big decision to make.

The issue, however, is not with Mike McDaniel. Not yet anyway. This is a critical off-season for Ross. If he wants Harbaugh, it might be his last chance to take him away from Michigan. If he wants Payton, he will need to compensate New Orleans and outbid a team like Denver. Ross doesn’t have even an average track record attracting coaches.

If Ross hangs on to McDaniel for another year, he will likely lose out on both coaches and could potentially be looking to replace McDaniel after next season if the Dolphins fail.

All of that being said, there are plenty of reasons to keep McDaniel and instead, look to get rid of some others instead.
