Tua Tagovailoa is a big problem for Mike McDaniel and one he shouldn’t be held accountable for.

Entering the 2022 off-season, the Dolphins went on a big and surprising head coaching search. That search netted McDaniel.  Ross, he and Grier interviewed Brian Daboll twice but ultimately lost him either by their own decision or Daboll’s to the Giants. Daboll has the Giants in the playoffs.

During the search for an HC it was widely reported that whoever the coach would be, Tua Tagovailoa would have to be retained as the quarterback. McDaniel obviously didn’t see that as a problem and when the season started, it appeared that McDaniel was going to make Tua a superstar.

Concussions took care of that and while McDaniel handled the situations well, he was forced to rely on backup Teddy Bridgewater who couldn’t finish a single game he started. Miami has almost relied more on Skylar Thompson, a 7th-round draft pick.

McDaniel can not be held accountable for Tua. He turned him into one of the top quarterbacks before and even after his first and second concussions but there seems to be a problem with him staying on the field and considering Tua was not McDaniel’s draft pick, he should get a pass.
