Sunday’s AFC East matchup between the Miami Dolphins (8-8) and the New York Jets (7-9) features two teams with a lot to play for. If the Dolphins win, they make the playoffs, their first postseason berth since 2016. If the Jets win, they finish with their best record since 2015 while ending a division rival’s season. There are plenty of storylines to analyze and break down leading up to Sunday, but one aspect that may be going unnoticed is how both of these teams are potential players in the quarterback market this offseason.

Despite publicly expressing their desire to keep former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson next season, the Jets are expected to look for a new signal caller elsewhere. The Dolphins have the uncertainty of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s status to consider. With Tagovailoa being put into concussion protocol once again after the Christmas Day loss to the Green Bay Packers, it was potentially his third concussion of the season. The combination of his injuries and inconsistent play may have the Dolphins looking to make a move as well.

The quarterback carousel is rounding into shape, with a few familiar names already at the top of the list, including Tampa Bay’s Tom Brady, San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo, and Las Vegas’ Derek Carr. Other names could also be added before the offseason officially begins. This game could serve as an audition for those available signal callers to show which franchise is the best option.

Which situation is the most desirable? That’s what we’ll break down here, from top to bottom. Will the Jets be more attractive to available quarterbacks or will it be the Dolphins?
