The Miami Dolphins starting quarterback will miss his third game in a row after suffering a concussion against the Packer. He is not progressing.

There are several stages a player must go through to return to the field and for now, Tua Tagovailoa is allowed to do light aerobic exercises. He has yet to progress enough after three weeks to return to the field and practice with his team.

Many fans believe that should Miami beat the Bills on Sunday, Tua would be cleared and ready to go for the Chiefs the following week but so far, there is no indication that Tua is progressing enough to make that a reality.

I am one of those that believe that Tua will be the quarterback of the Dolphins next season but if I am being real with myself, I have to also realize that barring the Dolphins finding a way to keep Tua off the ground, then his concussion issues are not going to simply disappear and next year we could see him miss time again.

Tua has one more year before the Dolphins need to worry about his fifth-year option so next year is the critical one for the young QB. Make it through 2023 and the Dolphins will know where they stand with him but they would also be taking a risk in relying on Tua.

The future for Tua isn’t clear and it shouldn’t be at this point. When he is healthy, he led the league in passing but he has missed considerable time this year and has had some pretty bad games when he was healthy.

2023 is going to be an interesting season but for now, Tua not being cleared after three weeks should be somewhat of a concern.
