The Miami Dolphins are eliminated from the playoffs and that is never easy to take but today, they played with heart and won a moral victory.

I know, moral victories mean nothing and no matter how you look at it, the Dolphins’ season is over but given the circumstances of today’s game, how can you not feel proud of what they left on the field?

Miami was supposed to be blown out. It was supposed to be lopsided. At one point, commentator Tony Romo said, “Here comes the onslaught”. On the next play, the Dolphins strip-sacked Josh Allen, and Zach Sieler took it into the endzone to give the Dolphins their first lead.

The Bills kept trying to push but the Dolphins wouldn’t give in. After taking the lead, they gave up two touchdowns to the Bills and still clawed back into the game cutting the deficit to three.

Miami, the team that started a 3rd string rookie 7th-round draft pick put 31 on their AFC East rivals, in Buffalo, in the cold, and did so without almost half of their starting offense.

This Dolphins’ offense and defense overcame several dropped passes that would have been 30-plus yard gains. They overcame sacks and horrible pre-snap penalties including one on the final drive that set them back five yards. Four false starts are hard to overcome and eventually, Miami couldn’t in the end.

There is a lot to build on this season. The Dolphins are in a position to make big strides in 2023 but for now, this loss is much easier to handle because the Dolphins didn’t get beat, they beat themselves which you expect from a team starting players that typically don’t play, let alone start.

Moral victory? Yeah, they suck but this time, it doesn’t suck as bad.
