The Miami Dolphins are not making any rash decisions with their coaching staff yet but they may not have a choice with Darrell Bevell.

Bevell, a well-respected offensive coach who stepped in this year with the Dolphins to coach the quarterbacks and act as the passing game coordinator is now suddenly a hot candidate for offensive coordinator jobs.

Bevell will interview with the New York Jets who requested permission from Miami regarding their OC vacancy and now the Washington Commanders have requested permission for the same.

The Dolphins may not be able to retain him if he is offered an OC position because they don’t have a promotable spot that would match it on their coaching staff.

Mike McDaniel calls the plays and Frank Smith holds the OC title.

Bevell did wonders for Tua Tagovailoa this year and it isn’t surprising other teams are taking notice. But it isn’t his work with Tua that is going to get him a job.

Bevell has 26 years of coaching experience and has been an offensive coordinator for 15 of those years with the Jaguars, Lions, Vikings, and Seahawks. He has also been an interim head coach twice with the Lions and Jaguars.

For Dolphins fans, if they lose Bevell it would be best to see him land in Washington and out of the AFC East. Bevell will know Tua’s tendencies and what he can and can not do well and having him with the Jets would not be good. Not to mention the fact he is a good quarterback coach and the Jets don’t need anyone to help the trainwreck that is New York football QBs.
