Tom Brady shows he belongs nowhere near the Miami Dolphins
By Brian Miller
Tom Brady used to be the GOAT, but now he is just the guy who used to be the GOAT. The Miami Dolphins need to realize this.
Is Tom Brady coming to Miami this off-season? Let’s hope not. If we learned anything this year, we learned that the once sure-handed winner is now a streaky inconsistent quarterback and on Monday night, we watched one of his worst games.
Brady, on the big stage in the Wild Card round, led the Buccaneers to 14 points and those came in the 2nd half. Brady finished with 351 yards, two touchdowns, and a red-zone interception but he threw the ball 66 times and completed 35.
The Bucs played from behind the entire game so it isn’t surprising. Throughout his season he has been far more average and yet there are Miami Dolphins fans who genuinely want to replace Tua Tagovailoa with him.
The dots are not hard to connect with Brady. His kids live in Miami, the Dolphins lost draft picks tampering with him, and the discord between Ross and Brian Flores all started over a yacht luncheon.
Brady isn’t the player he was, obviously, and there is no reason to think that Miami should replace Tua Tagovailoa with him.
Brady isn’t the only QB that Miami fans will have to contend with this year. Lamar Jackson is a hot name, Derek Carr is a hot name, and even Aaron Rodgers is a name that some fans will point out. Why?
The fact that Tua missed so much time this year is a concern and the Dolphins have reportedly said they will work with him on how he falls when being tackled. Tua typically turns his body to land on his back which increases the likelihood of a rear hit to the head. Miami wants him to work on that.
The 2023 season may or may not be the last for Tom Brady but it does seem it will be his last in Tampa Bay. The Raiders are a team he could land with given the connection with Josh McDaniels but until he signs a contract with another team, the Dolphins are still going to be mentioned.
On Monday, both Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel said that Tua is expected to be the starter in 2023 and they were very clear about that but there are those in the media who will continue to make waves about the Dolphins possibly moving on.
For Brady, his season wasn’t horribly bad. He still threw for over 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns but his accuracy has waned and his arm strength isn’t what it use to be. Should the Dolphins look at Brady? No, and if they wondered at all about it, know they are likely to get the Brady that played on Monday night and not the GOAT.
Some players just hang on too long. Tom Brady is becoming that guy.
