At this point, the wound of losing to the Buffalo Bills in dramatic fashion with Skylar Thompson and some dude named Lester Cotton at guard even though the Miami Dolphins left loads of plays on the field, should be crusted over with a decent scab. I’ve been dormant here since the loss, and now I feel comfortable enough(plus I have the time) to share my thoughts and explain what I think Mike McDaniel needs to improve as a coach.

The game on Sunday was a classic buffet of emotions. Every emotion the human mind and body can allow was experienced. I didn’t expect the Dolphins to have a real chance to win and man alive they were, at one point, one yard away(foreshadowing) from continuing a drive around mid-field. They didn’t execute, and the Bills snuck out with a victory.

In that game, we saw Mike McDaniel put together a very solid game plan for Skylar Thompson. Skylar made some plays but also left a decent amount of plays on the field. Oh well, what’re you going to do with a 7th rookie and no I don’t feel like listening to anyone compare it to Brock Purdy. If you need me to explain to you the difference in situations you need more than me speaking with you. Try a priest or one of those tarot card readers(do those still exist?).

But, we also saw some flaws from Mike McDaniel that we’ve seen all year that he must improve if we want this team to win these types of games and even bigger ones. Not everything mentioned in this article going forward was necessarily happening in Sunday’s game. But, we all know these are things that need to be worked out before September.

McDaniel changed the Dolphins for the better with his high-octane offense and with the simplistic way he handled the players. I really do believe this team trusts him in getting them better which leads to them making more money, which is one of their goals as players. I am fully on board with McDaniel leading this team because I’ve seen him coach this team well. Hell, he outcoached the Bills three times this year so yeah I want Mike McD as the head man here.

But as he said after the game, there are areas that he 100% knows he needs to get better at. I think with an entire off-season in front of him and given the methodical nature that I think is the essence of McDaniel, I expect this team to operate differently next year.
