Miami Dolphins: 5 most embarrassing moments of 2022 season
Miami Dolphins: Most embarrassing moments of 2022 season
2. Christmas Day
It was the only game being broadcast during the early window on Christmas Day, and the morning started off with joy aplenty as Tua Tagovailoa hit Jaylen Waddle on an 84-yard touchdown pass that gave the Dolphins a 10-3 lead. Miami would push the difference to 20-10, and had possession of the ball nearing the end of the 2nd quarter with a chance to make it a 3-score game going into half-time.
Raheem Mostert fumbled, and the Packers made a field goal just before half-time, and it was the Packers who would have the momentum for the rest of the game. Whatever the reason may be (concussion or not), Tagovailoa threw three fourth quarter interceptions, all of which were mistakes that had been uncharacteristic for most of the season. Green Bay took advantage, and temporarily spoiled Miami’s playoff hopes by beating the Dolphins 26-20.
The biggest news from the game didn’t come until the day after, when it was revealed that Tagovailoa had suffered a concussion at some point during the second quarter. It would be the end of his season, as the Dolphins stumbled into the playoffs with Skylar Thompson at the helm. Things would have probably been a bit different had Tua been able to finish off the season.
