1. Sunday Night debacle against Chargers
It was supposed to be the rebound game for the Dolphins after their loss against the 49ers, their chance to get a win before heading to Buffalo for a division showdown with the Bills. The game was flexed into the prime Sunday Night Football spot, and all eyes were on Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert and their connection through the draft process.
The Dolphins were favorites, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles was overrun with fans in aqua and orange, and the Chargers were working with a banged-up secondary. The pre-game pundits all chose Miami to win in what should have been Tua’s coming out party.

Aside from miraculously not turning the ball over, Tagovailoa’s performance was one of the worst of his career. He completed just 10 of his 28 attempts for a season-low 145 yards, and his completion percentage of 35.7 was 20 percent lower than in any other game in 2022. It was a dismal performance with the eyes of the nation watching, and it put to rest much of the Tua vs. Herbert talk that was had leading up to the game. He would rebound the next week with a solid performance against the Bills, but Tagovailoa missed his chance to show the world the progress he had made up until that point.
