There were numbers aplenty for the Miami Dolphins in 2022. Here are the ones that most defined their rollercoaster of a season.

The 2022 season ended in mostly disappointing fashion for the Miami Dolphins, as they limped into the playoffs after one of the hottest starts of any team. They held their own in the Wild Card game considering the circumstances, but going from 8-3 to fizzling out in the first round of the playoffs was quite the dramatic turnaround.

But there were a lot of numbers put up by players on Miami’s roster in 2022. Some guys had career years in an offense that ranked in the top-10 for the first time since the 90s. Other ones on defense had numbers that haven’t been seen in nearly 30 years, despite the unit’s overall underwhelming performance.

Which are the eye-catching statistics that stick out the most? Here are the 5 numbers that defined the 2022 season for the Miami Dolphins:

105.5

Tua’s passer rating

No matter what your position is on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, there is no denying that the team performed better when he was under center, and that he was a legit MVP candidate until Week 14.

It is true that the team underachieved, and endured an embarrassing collapse in the process. A couple of the losses can be blamed on Tua, and his absence was certainly felt, but Miami wouldn’t have been in nearly the position they were without him. Despite his late-season struggles, including the 3 interception 4th quarter against the Packers on Christmas Day, Tagovailoa still led the league in passer rating, coming in at a cool 105.5. He also led the league in yards per attempt.

How’s that for “can’t throw the deep ball”?
