Tua Tagovailoa should not be the quarterback for the Miami Dolphins next year

If Tua Tagovailoa is the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins next year it will be a major mistake that could cost them a Super Bowl.

Let us be honest about the Dolphins’ quarterback situation with Tua.

He gets hurt consistently dating back to Alabama. He had two diagnosed concussions this year. The poor guy can not stay healthy, and when he has played he has been good.

As good as he has been, he has not been good enough for the Dolphins to commit to him long term with all of the injuries.

So, what should the Dolphins do at quarterback next year?

You can find this answer on a farm…

Call the G.O.A.T.

Get Tom Brady on the phone and offer him a two-year contract. Brady would jump at the chance to play with an offensive head coach, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle.

I know that he is old. I know that he had a down year.

Crazy how a “down year” is being second in the league in passing yards, eighth in passing touchdowns, and fourth in interception percentage.

That is a really good year, even if it is a down year.

Another plus of signing Brady is the offense would be able to play under center more. The Dolphins struggled to consistently run the ball this year. I believe a large part of that was because they did everything out of shotgun.

Coach McDaniel’s rushing offense in San Francisco was based under center. It would be easy for McDaniel to do what he does best having a quarterback who has the size and is comfortable going under center.

This roster is loaded with talent. They are a Brady signing and a good draft away from being a legit Super Bowl contender.

I know the Dolphins fan base’s love for Tua runs deep, but let us be honest. The three best teams in the AFC have Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow. Tua is not on the same level as those guys. Even if he was he does not stay on the field. Brady is on the same level as those guys.

The Dolphins should trade Tua. If there is a time to trade Tua it is after a good season like this. The Dolphins could probably get a second or third-round pick for him.

I know there is going to be some pushback on this idea. As I said, the Dolphins fan base’s love for Tua runs it deep.

Some people are going to want to stick with Tua despite the injury history telling us not to. Some people will not like the idea, simply because Brady tortured us for years when he was in New England. Then, some people will be concerned with the future of the Dolphins if they do this.

“Jonathan, what about after those two years?”

It is a great question. The last thing you want to be is the Los Angeles Rams right? Sacrifice two or three bad years to win a Super Bowl.

I would willingly do that, but some people want to be more consistent.

The Dolphins should take their second-round pick and draft Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Hooker is a first round talent. He is big, athletic, and has a big arm. The only down side is he tore his ACL earlier this year, so he will not be available during his rookie season.

That is okay though because the Dolphins would have signed Brady.

This is a win win scenario. The Dolphins get a legit quarterback who can stay healthy, and they pick up their quarterback of the future.

I know Dolphins fans are attached to Tua. He is the best quarterback they have had since Dan Marino, but this roster is a dominant quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender.

Brady could be the guy to bring the first Super Bowl to Miami since 1974. I would get rid of Tua in a heartbeat if it meant the Dolphins could hoist the Lombardi trophy for the first time in almost 50 years.
