I don’t care who it is, but some form of a reliable #3 option needs to emerge for the Miami Dolphins.

The offense of the Miami Dolphins got put into a vice grip when teams were able to take away the vertical passing game to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The offense got put on lockdown when defenses took away what the Dolphins’ quarterbacks wanted to do which was get the ball to Hill and Waddle play after play.

Someone and I don’t care what position group it comes from whether it’s the receivers, the tight ends, or the running backs needs to be put in place to take some of the pressure off of Hill and Waddle here and there.

I thought River Cracraft was about to step into that role but then he got hurt. Trent Scherfield seemed like he was taking over that position but we really didn’t hear from him after he took that slant on the first play of the game against the 49ers. Cedrick Wilson didn’t show up like we all thought and Mike Gesicki, well he was shelved. There never seemed like was any emphasis to get the ball to the backs out of the backfield so it was live by Hill and Waddle pretty much every dropback.

That way of life can win some games but it’s not going to clear the good teams in the biggest of games deep in the season.

I don’t know if that guy is on the team right now, but it needs to be addressed and the point needs to be made that whoever that third option is they will be included in the game plan. Does this take the ball away from Hill and Waddle? Maybe ever so slightly but I think this offense will only work better with multiple, credible targets on the team.
