Classic Dolphins: Vic Fangio not officially signed is hilariously frightening

There we were. It was right before the conference championship games and the news started hitting the interweb that dynamite defensive mind, Vic Fangio, was going to be the next defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins couldn’t win anything yesterday, but bringing in a defensive coach, who has many accolades coaching defense as Fangio does, to a team with some very nice young defensive players felt like a lower-form win.

Visions of defensive stops against good offenses in the biggest of moments danced in our heads. Honestly, visions of not playing the defense back 18 yards on 3rd and 16 from the 17 thus leading to the Chargers not going for 4th and 1 which lead to them pretty much winning the game against the Dolphins is the main thing I had in my head when I heard the news about Vic Fangio. Also since Fangio is a Scranton, actually Dunmore man, the idea of running into Fangio and rubbing elbows with him at The Roosevelt Beer Garden also popped into my head.

Then this morning hits and it appears that Vic Fangio to the Miami Dolphins is not 100% in place. You could hear Lee Corso saying, ‘Not so fast my friend” bellowing out of Dolphin’s Twitter and other areas of the internet based on this tweet.

Michael Silver knows what he’s doing compared to all the Twitter wannabes who bought a blue check mark just so they can convince themselves and I guess others that they have sources.

With the 49er’s defensive coordinator position, seemingly going to be open, that could make Vic Fangio think a little more before he signs his name on the dotted line.

But fortunately, Peter King has come out to assure all of us Dolphins fans that Vic Fangio will be coming to South Beach. It’s relevant because this comes an hour after the Michael Silver tweet.

I think Vic Fangio will be the next defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins. With zero sources at all, I bet the hold-up is that, currently, Fangio, is a consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles. You wouldn’t think Fangio coming out and saying he has taken the Dolphin’s job wouldn’t really interfere in the preparation for the Eagles in the Super Bowl but I guess I don’t really know the interworkings of that kind of stuff.

Or, he really is thinking about the potential of the 49er’s defensive coordinator position or maybe the Panther’s position. I’m sure that’s possible.

But with all these very reputable NFL guys coming out pretty much saying that Vic Fangio has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins he just hasn’t signed the contract, I would expect them to be right instead of wrong.

That or a potentially classic Dolphins situation is upon us and it will end up being one of those moments where we all start having a good laugh that morphs into a solid cry. I’m preparing myself for that.

Hopefully, Vic Fangio comes out with a makeshift video of him saying he will be in fact the next defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins as he holds up today’s paper. Then I will truly feel he is with us.
