Tom Brady closes door on Miami Dolphins with retirement announcement

This morning, news broke from Tom Brady himself that he was announcing his retirement from the NFL and thus, closing the door on joining the Miami Dolphins.
Rumors, speculation, even wishes by some in the Dolphins fan base, all with hopes of Tom Brady joining the Dolphins this off-season despite the fact that Tua Tagovailoa has been openly supported by the team for a return. Now, it can all be put to rest.
Brady made a short video from what appeared to be a beach announcing that he is retiring from the NFL, “for good”.
Brady will now be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2028 provided he doesn’t change his mind. He will almost certainly join J.J. Watt in that class. Watt announced his retirement after the Cardinals’ final regular season game.
Brady retiring is not overly surprising but after his divorce last off-season, it seemed that Brady would continue to play beyond the 2022 season. He has made it clear that he will not.
2022 wasn’t a perfect year for Brady and the Buccaneers made an early exit from the playoffs after squeaking in.
Brady’s legacy is undeniable. He will retire with 7 Super Bowl rings which is more than any single team.
For Miami, the speculation can stop not that it really should have been hanging around. The Dolphins are committed to Tua for at least one more season and the focus this off-season should be on finding a suitable backup.
Miami’s connection to Brady was through Bruce Beal but with Beal no longer in the Dolphins future after a falling out with Stephen Ross surrounding the tampering investigation, the chances of Brady coming to Miami were minimal.
