3 Miami Dolphins players Vic Fangio needs to get more out of
By Matt Serniak
Reuniting with Vic Fangio, the guy who helped Chubb establish himself should get Chubb back to doing what he was doing before he got to Miami.
Saying Bradley Chubb underperformed when he got to Miami based on how he performed when he was in Denver would be like saying Jim’s cheesesteaks are superior to Geno’s and Pat’s. Everyone knows this.
Chubb had 5.5 sacks this season while he was in Denver and only 2.5 with the Dolphins. I know what you’re going to say; that he elevated Jaelan Phillips. I’m not going to say that’s not untrue because it certainly seemed Phillips had an uptick in production and played with more vigor and speed when life was easier for him. But that doesn’t mean that Chubb has to be a decoy every game does it?
Bradley Chubb had some good moments and played very good football when Vic Fangio was the head coach of the Denver Broncos. I think Chubb left a bit on the bone when he was with Vic Fangio in Denver so teaming up again in Miami could possibly be the best thing for both of them. Kind of an unfinished business type of thing.
Here’s what Fangio has said about Chubb in the past.
Pretty generic stuff if you ask me but at least they’re positive things and nothing back-handed.
What I like about the prospect of Bradley Chubb raising his game back to what we thought the team was getting is that the expectation is that Vic Fangio will run a 4-3 defense. As I said in the beginning, we have no idea what type of defense Fangio will run but it seems odd that he would run something that isn’t in his wheelhouse. This means that Chubb will be more of a traditional defensive end instead of an outside linebacker. I think that bodes well for him and the entire defense.
