The Miami Dolphins have a headache on their hands with Byron Jones. Whether salary or health, moving on makes sense.

Jones reportedly liked playing for Brian Flores and there is nothing wrong with that. Flores’ gruff nature and approach aren’t for everyone. Miami has a new DC in Vic Fangio who will want to get some of his own personnel on the roster as well.

Jones is set to make a big amount of money against the cap and the Dolphins could trade him and take on some of that cap money to offset what the Vikings would have to take and make it more appealing. Flores knows Jones well and was part of the process to get him in Miami.

Reuniting Jones with Flores makes sense and would not only help improve the Viking secondary but give Flores a cornerback that is familiar with his system that relies considerably on Zero-coverage.

Flores’ defense is designed to have quality play at the corner position and it doesn’t work without it. Last season Jones missed the entire year after suffering an Achilles injury (not a tear) and while the Dolphins expected him back, he didn’t return. There was plenty of conjecture by fans and media that something else was a problem and not the injury. Some believed that the firing of Brian Flores was part of the issue. So send him back to Flores.
