The Miami Dolphins drafted Raekwon Davis in the 2nd round of the 2020 draft three years ago and Brian Flores was visibly excited.

Raekwon Davis is still growing and developing but the Dolphins really don’t need him as much as they need Christian Wilkins and Zach Sieler. All three defensive tackles will be free agents after the 2023 season and the Dolphins will find it hard enough to re-sign two let alone all three.

Of the three, Davis is the least involved. He has been banged up at times but Wilkins and Sieler have been too consistent to rotate them off the field. Miami could find a third defensive tackle in free agency that can pick up the slack and rotate but it doesn’t have to be Davis.

The Dolphins may not get a lot in return for him but losing him in free agency isn’t going to net them a lot either.

On draft day, Flores was very excited to draft Davis and now is a good time to reunite the two of them in Minnesota. Davis could do very well with Flores and again, like Jones, there is familiarity which is the purpose of this whole thing anyway.

Flores needs to have guys that he can rely on to help the other defenders get the system down Jones and Davis make a lot of sense for our first two.
