The talk over Vic Fangio agreeing to a deal with the Miami Dolphins ended up being a social media fiasco, because, well, it’s social media.

There are great things about social media but there are also a lot of things seriously wrong with it. For example, the delay in Vic Fangio signing with the Dolphins was taken as Fangio seeking out another team and dissing Mike McDaniel.

It got so bad that media members were jumping in and making the whole ordeal worse by suggesting that Fangio himself said that nothing was done on his end. Indeed, it wasn’t. Fangio had not signed a deal to coach the Miami Dolphins and we now have a better idea why that is.

According to Adam Schefter, Fangio signed a two-week contract to work with the Philadelphia Eagles to game prep for the Super Bowl. By doing so, Fangio was not able to sign a deal with the Dolphins, a contract that he was reported to have accepted terms on.

This makes sense for everyone involved. Fangio wasn’t lying by saying nothing was final on his end, the speculation of him talking to other teams was blown out of proportion, and all this time, he was working to help the defense prep for the biggest game of the season.

The Super Bowl will be over tonight and Fangio’s contract with the Eagles will end and then, he will officially become a coach of the Dolphins. That will lead to an interesting week as he analyzes and evaluates his coaching staff and makes changes accordingly.
