Derek Carr has won his freedom from the Las Vegas Raiders after refusing to accept any trades but that doesn’t mean he lands with the Miami Dolphins.

Despite some speculation from a couple of media outlets, the Miami Dolphins will not be diving into the Carr sweepstakes and they probably shouldn’t. Miami does after all have Tua Tagovailoa and the last thing they need is drama.

But where will Carr end up?

The Colts would make sense but they have said they want to groom a quarterback. The Texans would make sense but they have a high draft pick and will likely pick whomever they want in the draft at the position. It would be ironic for Carr to end up where his brother played.

Up in New York the Jets are going to be linked to just about everyone and Carr might actually like the bright lights of the Big Apple after spending time in Vegas Baby! Still, the Jets don’t seem like a realistic landing spot any more than a surprise landing in New England.

The most logical choice of all would be to see him join the Saints. The Saints asked to speak with him and the Raiders were potentially trying to trade him but Carr held the keys with his no-trade clause. Ending up with the Saints would be a monumental middle finger to the Raiders.

Another potential landing spot that would make sense, Tampa Bay.

Carr may remain unsigned until free agency, something he does not have to do being free and clear now. He could wait to see what other teams do with their QB situation. For example, Carr could wait to see what Baltimore and Lamar Jackson do or wait to see if Aaron Rodgers leaves Green Bay and then jump into the Packers talk.

For Carr, it is about money and should be. He holds the cards and can decide which team he plays for in 2023 and beyond but it won’t be Miami.
