5 Miami Dolphins players who were on IR that will impact ’23
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins 2023 season was filled with a lot of highs, a lot of lows, and a lot of injuries. This year, Miami will get their IR players back.
Every team suffers injuries but the number Miami suffered last season was abnormally high and came at positions that Miami didn’t quite have the depth for. In some cases, the depth was injured as well making the entire season a rollercoaster of who can play and who can’t.
In 2023, the Dolphins are hoping to avoid as many injuries as possible but they will be getting key players back who missed parts or all of the season last year.
12 players ended the 2022 season on IR and that does not include the players who were on IR and returned before the season’s end. Here is a look at five of those players that will have a positive impact on their return.
Trill Williams and Nik Needham were both missed greatly by the Miami Dolphins last season.
I’m going to put both of these guys together. The loss of Needham was not good, last year as he was ready for the breakout season with Byron Jones out. Needham has developed well in Miami and he is likely going to be back this year.
Miami will need to get Needham under contract as he is slated to be a free agent. The Dolphins could have used him last year and losing him decimated an already thin secondary.
Trill Williams was also part of the IR all season. He dropped with an ACL injury and was showing the same characteristics that Needham has. Versatile, quick, and instinctive, Williams is that up-and-coming corner that the Dolphins would have loved to have healthy last season. This year, he will get the chance to jump back into the fold and should continue his development nicely and contribute on the field.
