The Miami Dolphins, under Vic Fangio, will need to have two very good safeties and Brandon Jones returning will be an important piece.

Fangio uses two-deep safeties and Jevon Holland is set to breakout as an NFL star but last year, the loss of Jones didn’t help Holland continue to move forward at a quick pace. Holland had to play differently as the Dolphins looked for replacements when needed throughout the season.

Now, the Dolphins are set to get Jones back. Jones missed all but seven games last season and should be 100% by the time training camp rolls around and could be back sooner.

Jones has shown a lot of growth in his still young career and losing him last year was just another part of the devastating injuries suffered in the secondary across the team as a whole.

He has eight sacks in his three seasons with the Dolphins and under Fangio, he should see a big uptick in tackles.

Jones returning and staying helathy will be a big boost to the Dolphins defense and eliminate the need to find a starter to play next to Holland. Miami will still need to add a couple of safeties for camp practices and OTAs but the starters should be set and that is a huge win for Miami’s defense.
