The Miami Dolphins could sent Tua Tagovailoa to the New Orleans Saints in an ironic twist of draft pick compensation.

Derek Carr seems to be the quarterback more likely to sign with the Saints if he doesn’t with the Jets. The Saints need a quarterback and they tried to trade for Carr but that fell through because Carr wouldn’t approve it.

With Carr potentially out of the picture, the Dolphins could trade Tua to the Saints in exchange for their late first round draft pick. A pick that has been moved quite often over the last couple of years.

The Saints pick 29th in April’s draft. That selection originally belonged to the San Francisco 49ers who traded it to the Dolphins in a trade up for Trey Lance. The Dolphins traded that pick to the Broncos last season for Bradley Chubb and the Broncos traded it to the Saints for Sean Payton.

If Miami made that deal, the pick would end up back in the hands of Miami.

It would make sense for the Saints who will find Tua a cheaper option than Carr and a guy that would fit well into their lockerroom. He would give the Saints the same two years the Ravens would have and that gives them time to evaluate.
