Miami Dolphins biggest free agent roster needs of 2023

It shouldn’t be this far down on the Miami Dolphins list of needs but linebacker is a problem for Miami and they need to get it fixed.

Will Miami try and go big in free agency or will they wait it out and sign lower-tiered players and then hope the draft falls well for them? Ideally, Jack Campbell would be a perfect draft addition but Miami has to get through free agency first and that means linebacker will need to be addressed.

Jerome Baker could make this situation direr. There is a lot of speculation that Miami could move on from Baker this year and if they do, that creates a big hole in the defense that Miami will need to fill and they can’t do that simply through the draft.

Linebacker hasn’t been a huge problem for the Dolphins but they really haven’t had a stalwart at the position since Zach Thomas left the team when Bill Parcells took over.

Jeff Ireland surely tried but ultimately couldn’t fix the group. They have been inconsistent from year to year and much of that has to do with coaching and player turnover, scheme fits and non-fits, and inexperience at times.

This year, the Dolphins have to change that or they are expecting too much from Vic Fangio.
