Miami Dolphins full 7 round pre-free agency mock draft
By Brian Miller
Yes the Miami Dolphins need a tight end and while they were not in position to draft one of the top, Sam LaPorta is not a slouch.
Sam LaPorta isn’t as flashy as some of the other tight ends in this year’s draft class but he is a worker and Mike McDaniel likes working TEs.
LaPorta comes from one of the NFLs more impressive TE colleges. Iowa has produced Dallas Clark, T.J. Hockenson, and even George Kittle. If there is one thing to like about Iowa TEs is that they are well coached.
LaPorta can block and he can catch the football as well. In fact, when LaPorta leaves Iowa for good this year, he will do so owning the yardage and receptions highs in Iowa history.
Due to the depth at TE in this year’s draft, LaPorta could very well fall to the mid-third round and if he does, the Dolphins would be smart to draft him. He is a big threat TE in the passing game who has the skills to block as well but needs to be better in some areas. Sounds like someone McDaniel would want.
