Miami Dolphins full 7 round pre-free agency mock draft
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins need to add depth to their offensive line and given their needs vs. draft picks available, it’s a late rounder in 2023.
Mafi is the perfect selection for the Miami Dolphins in this years draft, in terms of a late offensive lineman. He has the skill set and bulk to be a very good NFL guard, provides valuable depth but will challenge for a starting role in another year or two.
The Dolphins have questions with their lineman and that will mean more new faces to the roster. At 6’4″ and 338 pounds, Mafi is a big body that excels in run blocking and isn’t bad in pass blocking either.
Mafi will challenge Liam Eichenberg for the left guard job and could do so immediately this year. He is projected to be a late 5th or 6th round selection and should be on the Dolphins radar.
This is as close to a road-grader lineman as Miami can get and physically, he can dominate in run blocking. For his size he is quick with his feet and uses his long arms to keep defenders off his chest. He can also slide outside and protect on the edge using his quick moving steps to move fast pass rushers away from the quarterback.
He will need to work on some fundamentals at the next level but nothing overly critical as he enters the league. He has some consistency issues with pass protection but those are correctable.
