Depending on what the Miami Dolphins do in free agency, safety could be a position of need but it may not be one that has to be high on the draft list.

. Pick Analysis. S. Florida. player. 59. TreyDean, III. 7

Miami stays in-state with their final draft pick of this mock and takes Trey Dean, III.

The Dolphins have some safety concerns. Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones could be the only two sure bets at safety. There has been a lot of speculation about Jordan Poyer being added to the roster but right now, we can’t be certain if there is any validity outside of Poyer’s own comments.

If Miami doesn’t go safety in free agency, they will lose Verone McKinley and Eric Rowe in free agency and even if they sign either one to a short deal, they will need someone else.

That brings us to Dean who is viewed as a late 6th to 7th prospect.

There is a lot of potential in Dean but there are also areas he needs to start working on if he is he goint to have a successful NFL career. For starters, he needs to be better off the snap and he has to improve his recognition of plays but he is a very good athlete who can break without hesitation on throws.

Dean is coachable and Miami’s coaches will have to do that. He is likely going to be a special teams contributor early in his career until he settles down and becomes more consistent.
