What’s next for the Miami Dolphins 2023roster and Chris Grier as free agency begins?

Listen, Jerome Baker had his best season to date as a Miami Dolphin.  However the overall concern is if Baker fits into Vic Fangio’s defensive system.  Fangio, the Dolphins new defensive coordinator, plays a different schema and style that Baker has been utilized in during his tenure as a Miami Dolphin.   Add in the fact that Baker’s contract is fully guaranteed on the 17th of March, look for Chris Grier to make a decision on Baker rather soon.

If Baker is gone, the Dolphins linebacker room will consist of Channing Tindall.  That’s it.  The Dolphins might look to bring back one of their free agent linebacker, but if not, there is ample options on the free agent market, with two high profile linebackers that could make sense.

Bobby Wagner

Bobby Wagner is top on the list.  Wagner just played a full season with Ramsey, and don’t think that Ramsey hasn’t already started trying to allure Wagner to come down to South Beach.  Wagner had a solid year last season. He would be a thumper that the Dolphins haven’t seen since Zach Thomas.

The downside, he’s on the wrong side of 30, and might be looking for a final contract before he retires, or if he’s chasing a ring, this could be an intriguing opportunity.

On the other hand, Lavonte David would be another intriguing prospect.  David already lives in Florida and a trip a lil south could be enticing.  David is coming off a good but not spectacular year.  You can tell he’s lost a step, but the vision and guidance is still there. The problem is, can you rely on a 33 year old linebacker to play all three downs that are essential to the middle of the field.
