The Miami Dolphins had their chance but it appears that Jordan Poyer and his Dolphins flirtations have led him back to the Buffalo Bills.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Bills’ Pro Bowl safety is re-signing with the Bills. Not the news many Dolphins fans were hoping to hear.

Over the course of the last month, Poyer had made it known that joining the Dolphins would be something he would be open to but it seems that the Dolphins and Poyer could not come to an agreement, that is if they had conversations at all.

Miami made a big move for Jalen Ramsey and that may be part of the reason they opted to not pursue Poyer. They also have Brandon Jones coming back in 2023 from injury. The Dolphins seem to be high on Jones’ potential alongside Jevon Holland.

Poyer would have been an interesting addition to the Dolphins that could have allowed Vic Fangio more creativity in the secondary.

With Poyer no longer an option for the Dolphins, it is unlikely they pursue another safety to start. They still will need to add safety at some point given the fact that Clayton Fejedelelm and Eric Rowe are both free agents.

The Dolphins could bring back Fejedelem considering his value on special teams but Rowe is not expected back.

Poyer was courted, reportedly, by the Dolphins and Raiders but in the end, he returns for at least another year to the Bills.

Poyer would have been a nice addition to the Dolphins defense but it would also have been more of a luxury addition than an actual need.

The Miami Dolphins did announce they have re-signed offensive tackle Kendall Lamm.
