Top available free agents at positions of need for Miami Dolphins
By Brian Miller
The Miami Dolphins need to address the tight end position as Mike Gesicki, Adam Shaheen, Cethan Carter, and Hunter Long will either not be bak or not expected back.
Durham Smythe is the only TE on the roster and it appears likely that the Dolphins will use a second day draft pick on the position. That being said, they can’t fully rely on a rookie and Smythe. They have to address the position in free agency. The question is at what level do they want to pay?
Dalton Schultz
Schultz is a player that many Miami fans are hoping to see with the Dolphins next season. The TE market has been quiet so far in free agency with only the trade of Darren Waller making waves. Schultz, however, is going to likely command big money and the Dolphins may not view the position as important for the cost.
Irv Smith
Smith is only 24 years old. His injury history isn’t great but we have seen Chris Grier invest money in injured players before so we can’t rule him out. He is a good option for the Dolphins and if he stays healthy, could fit nicely with Mike McDaniel’s offense.
Ross Dwelley
Miami could tap into the 28 year old Dwelley. McDaniel is familiar with his play from his time in San Francisco and Dwelley knows the system.
Other notables:
- O.J. Howard
- Donald Parham
- Foster Moreau
- Jess James
Expect the Dolphins to sign two tight ends in the coming days or week and add another in the draft.
