Despite the fact the Miami Dolphins added David Long, Jr. there is still a need at inside linebacker. It is unclear if Miami views this as a need anymore.

Miami passed on Tremaine Edmunds who signed a huge deal with the Bears out of the gate, they opted to not go big early, at all. Long is a solid middle linebacker and the Dolphins could view him as the answer to pair with Jerome Baker and allow Channing Tindall to develop under Vic Fangio.

Many believe that Miami still needs to address the position and that Baker could be either released or traded. So far, there has been no rumors to suggest Baker is going anywhere or is not a part of Miami’s plans. There is however, a lot of fan speculation.

If Miami does look for another ILB, remember, Long has an injury history, there are option on the market and more could be available when teams begin officially releasing players today.

Lavonte David

David is 33 years old but is still a very good middle linebacker. He could be signed to a two-year deal, something the Dolphins have been doling out so far during free agency. The veteran presence would be especially important if Miami moves on from Baker is a great player to help in developing Tindall if by no other way than his prep work.

Zach Cunningham

At 28 years old, Cunningham has some life left in him. He never truly reached his potential and could only be a depth addition for the Dolphins.

Andrew Van Ginkel

AVG is getting interest from other teams and the Dolphins would be smart to bring him back but honestly, he may get priced out of the Dolphins.
