Top available free agents at positions of need for Miami Dolphins
By Brian Miller
Almost universally, Miami Dolphins fans want to see Jordan Poyer added in free agency and Poyer made it known he would too.
Miami fans are waiting to see if the soon-to-be former Buffalo Bill Pro Bowl safety makes his way to south Florida. So far, there has been no word on him being a target of the Dolphins. It has been suggested that Miami and the Raiders are interested.
Poyer would allow Miami to move Brandon Jones into the slot where he can roam the secondary, a Minkah Fitzpatrick type in Vic Fangio’s defense. Miami will run more two-high safeties under Fangio so having Poyer back makes more sense and allowing Jones to thrive in a different scheme.
Still, Miami has to find the money and decide if he is their best option vs. cost. If not, there are other options but Miami is more likely to stick with Jones and add depth.
Of all the FA positions, safety has been moving consistently over the first few days with 8 players getting deals.
Eric Rowe
Rowe is an impending UFA and it seems as though the Dolphins have no desire to bring him back.
Clayton Fejedelem
Don’t be surprised if the Dolphins don’t bring or try to bring him back at a low salary. He has a lot of special teams value.
Nasir Adderley
25 years old and could add depth to the unit.
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson
Coming off a Super Bowl appearance with the Eagles, CG-J could be an option for Miami if they miss on Poyer. At 25 years old, there is a lot of upside to Garnder-Johnson. If Miami can’t get Poyer, CG-J would be a very good addition but he likely will be expensive.
