The right tackle free agent market is practically gone. The Miami Dolphins, again, have opted to go the route of “prayers and hope” rather than fix a problem.

Outside of what appears to be the Miami Dolphins front office, almost everyone views right tackle as a problem for the team. The one making the decision, Chris Grier, apparently does not.

Currently, Brandon Shell is one of the best options for the Dolphins but Miami isn’t making their former swing tackle a priority. The Bills, however, are interested and there could be news on that front in the next day or two.

Ja’Wuan James is an option but has only played in four games in two seasons. His injury history is very worrisome. George Fant has been on the Dolphins’ radar as well but Fant isn’t considered much better than Jackson. Truth is, anyone in the position is nothing more than depth.

While Miami can not do much in terms of right tackle, right now, they can address the spot in the draft. They can also address the problem at guard, now.

Moving Robert Hunt to right tackle could be the best move the Dolphins can make but they won’t. As of now, Hunt is a guard at a guard’s price. Hunt will be a free agent after this upcoming season and moving him to tackle, means Miami will pay more to retain him. Just a thought ahead of next season.
