Liam Eichenberg was injured much of last year and when he was healthy, he was o.k. at best. Miami seems content on keeping him in and that’s fine provided they add real competition to push him.

The Dolphins could and should look at Matt Feiler, the former Chargers guard. He is good enough to start from day one and push Eichenberg for playing time from the start.

There are a lot of guards still available in free agency and while none of them are Pro Bowl-caliber players, they are all good enough to compete for starting time or provide quality depth. Names like Tommy Kraemer, Max Garcia, Max Scharping, Dalton Risner, and the 34-year-old Rodger Saffold. Perfect options? No, as good as we have seen from Eichenberg? Yes.

The Dolphins need to have a plan here. Grier has tried to find solutions but his offensive line still remains mediocre or at its best, average.

Grier doesn’t see the value in investing money in the position but he may have to if he wants this team to advance deeper into the post season. The Dolphins need to be a better-running football team, especially between the guard/center and guard/tackle gaps.

Feiler is the best option left in the class and that could change as some clubs will release veterans in the next week or even couple of months but at some point, Miami has to make a move.
