Jerome Baker has been better than average for the Miami Dolphins but there are concerns about how he will fit into Vic Fangio's defensive system.

Most fans want to see an upgrade at the position and the Dolphins could add another interior linebacker in the draft, perhaps even at 51 but Baker should draw enough interest during the draft to perhaps bring a trade.

Like Wilson, Baker's contract would need to be covered the Dolphins because it is too high for a player whose level of play has started to fall.

Baker is intriguing because he could bring the Dolphins a mid-late round pick. Ideally, the Dolphins could get a 6th round pick for him or if they are really lucky, a 5th. The benefit for a team needing a linebacker that misses out during the early rounds, is that Baker has the experience and is worth a mid-round pick that won't be found in a rookie.

Baker's biggest drawback is his salary and like I said the Dolphins would have to eat some of it to make it work. It isn't impossible but it is unlikely because we don't know for certain if the Dolphins are entertaining the possibility but if they do draft an inside linebacker on day two, the writing could be on the proverbial wall.

If traded, Baker would only save the Dolphins around $3 million while they would eat $8.7 million.
