I don’t think anyone could have predicted that the Phins would be this involved on day one of free agency. The Miami Dolphins are on a tear, and it’s not over yet. 2 things really quick and then you can continue to watch the previous blog entry for updates. The Dolphins will definitely become a 3-4 team on defense with the trade for Ferguson and the contract with Randy Starks. And number 2, the Phins are getting a lot younger in a hurry. Of the signings listed below only Ferguson was drafted prior to the 2004 season…in 1997. Here is [...]

Phins Are On A Tear Today
Rather than continually post news items every time a new rumor or something hits the wire, I will post in this location. So here is how it will work. Every time there is a new item on the wire regarding the Dolphins or something that effects the Miami Dolphins in some way, I will simply post an update on this blog. The top item on this entry will be the latest news of the day. I will keep it up all weekend so check back here often. I will do a weekly breakdown on each of the signings and how [...]
The Miami Dolphins wasted zero time of the free agent period by signing Justin Smiley to a 5 year 25 million dollar contract with 9 million in guarantees. Smiley was plucked off the market within 1 hour of the midnight start to the market opening.
Smiley a 26 year old guard from SF is considered a roadgrader type of ball player who plays with a nast streak. Drafted in 2004 in round 2, Smiley is coming off his first rookie contract. He is exactly the type of player that the Dolphins will be targeting this free agency.
Smiley started 9 games in [...]
Flozell Adams will not be on the market when the clock strikes midnight. The Cowboys have signed the 33 year old All-Pro left tackle to a multi-year contract.
Adams was widely speculated to become a part of the Miami Dolphins due to the relationship of he and Tony Sparano and Bill Parcells. The Cowboys had been trying diligently for the better part of a week to get a deal done. With 5 hours left…they got it done.
A Whopping 15 Phins Headed To FA
The Miami Dolphins may have 39 million dollars to spend in free agency but they appear to be in need of every dime. With 15 players, including RFA Channing Crowder, headed to the free agent market at mid-night tonight, the Phins will have a ton of holes to fill on this years roster.
Mentioned above, Channing Crowder is restricted free agent who has yet to be tendered a contract offer. Entering the meat market are S Yeremiah Bell, RB Jesse Chatman, RB Patrick Cobbs, RB Samkon Gado, G Rex Hadnot, QB Cleo Lemon, G Chris Liwienski, G Gene Mruczkowski, DT Chase Page, [...]
Camarillo Tendered
Some quick news, the Miami Dolphins yesterday tendered Greg Camarillo, yes the guy who caught the only winning touchdown last season. I do not have the tender level, but it is probably a lower tender. It is not known if the Dolphins plan on making any other tender offers to it’s free agents.
The long countdown toward free agency is almost over. With just over 14 hours remaining, the real kick-off to the 2008 season begins. The Miami Dolphins are sitting around 40 million in salary cap space, and like the 2003 draft, find themselves sitting nice in a rather lackluster pool.
Sure, as always there are some “names” on the list. Alan Faneca, Assante Samuel, Lance Briggs, and, well, ummm, well there is 3 names on the list. The talent pool drops off quite a bit after those 3, there are still guys like Calvin Pace and such, but the real cream isn’t [...]
Phins Enter Rogers Race
According to Rotoworld.com the Miami Dolphins have entered into the bidding for NT Shaun Rogers of the Detroit Lions. Rogers is expected to cost a 2nd round pick. The Dolphins currently have two selections. Rogers is due a 1 million dollar signing bonus on March 1st.
The Miami Dolphins are now associated with two more names in the soon to be free agent pool. The latest rumored food for the Dolphins are Justin Smiley the offensive guard in SF and SF DE Marques Douglas. According to RotoWorld and the Miami Herald repectively.
According to Roto, the Dolphins will pass on Alan Faneca who reportedly has a 20 mill guarantee from the Jets, in favor of the younger and cheaper Smiley. Unlike other teams…Miami is not rumored to have any pre-free agent deals in place.
So, the Combine is over, free agency is a day plus 12 hours away and my mock draft is out of date…well not quite, but it is time for a new one. I started working on Mock 4.o and then I heard that a friend of mine had done one of his own. In fact Shane is a regular reader of our site so I asked him if I could use his for our Mock number 4. He thought it would be fun to do a mock for us, but he was very adamant about who he thinks is picking in [...]
You may not have noticed, but on the menu bar is a new addition, no not that one, that has been there awhile, not that one either. I’m talking about the “FA” menu. Starting Friday, all free agent transactions for the NFL will be added to that list. It will be a way for all of you to keep track of where players are going. “Did you hear if Assante Samuel has signed yet?”, go to the “FA” menu and find out. This Phinatic Pheature will run from now until the end of the free agent period.
Also readers, when you get [...]
As rumors go, the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins are at the heart of it all. Tipped early last month by Dan over at the Landry Hat, the name Bobby Carpenter was being tossed around. Perhaps his future in Dallas is being foretold in a jersey.
Carpenter was drafted by Bill Parcells and has largely been a disappointment to the Cowboys. He has played special teams but his LB play has not been stellar. Earlier this month and national media report was out saying that Carpenter was being shopped by the ‘Boyz. That seemed to die, but never really went [...]
Team Oriented Mock Drafts
The Fan-Sided Blogs are a group of individual team sites, much like this Miami Dolphins site, that are linked together in the same mold. As of today, there are 24 sites that belong to the Fan-Sided family. In keeping with our efforts to bring you as many ideas and opinions as possible, I am posting the links to the 9 sites in this group who have done their mock drafts. A few are a little outdated but you will get an idea of where they are thinking this draft could progress. Simply click on the team and see what their [...]
This is getting to be like beating a dead horse over and over again, so, let me beat it again. In this case that dead horse is Jerry Jones, owner of the “we haven’t talked about trading up for Darren McFadden Dallas Cowboys“. Since, I have addressed this almost to the point of making our readers sick. I will make this quick. In fact, I will quote Jerry Jones.
The Ft. Worth Star Telegram and other newspapers interviewed the owner for over an hour. Here are is the link to that interview, and here are two quotes from the man himself. [...]
