O.k. this has been a very busy week. Two interviews with two members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins…Jim Kiick and Mercury Morris. Morris’ interview will be posted next week and we are still having problems putting up the Kiick audio clip. We have our 1st CropDuster Report of the year…scroll down the site for that, but there has been a few other things that technical issues have prevented me from updating you on.

UPDATE:  Captains Announced

I forgot to include the addition of the teams Captains.  Tony Sparano announced that Vonnie Holiday and Jason Ferguson will share the duties on defense, Chad Pennington will handle them on offense, and the Special Teams Captain will change weekly being voted on by Sparano himself.

Yeremiah Bell and the Phins are talking about a contract extension. Bell has really impressed the coaching staff this pre-season and the only question surrounding him is whether or not he can stay healthy all season long. In any case, a salary that allows for the questions regarding his health would go a long way of shoring up a valuable member of the teams secondary. The Phins will likely start looking at Channing Crowder who scheduled to be a free agent after the season, but don’t be surprised if they don’t play a wait and see with Vernon Carey. While Carey has been a solid offensive lineman, Parcells tends to like his lineman a lot bigger and the salary he will likely command next year may be something this management team doesn’t want to pay. It’s just a cautionary warning and not a prediction.

The Phins have also moved Greg Camarillo to the number 2 WR spot in front of Derek Hagan who held it most of the pre-season. Hagan will likely rotate in and out of the game with Camarillo until one of them can show that they are the right guy for the spot. It will be a WR by committee it appears.

Reagan Mauia one of last years Hawaiian 5 was released as we all know and yesterday he was signed by the Bengals up in Cincinnati.

Chris Crocker will in fact get the nod over fellow safety Jason Allen.

CB Joey Thomas was released in favor of former Green Bay safety Tryone Culver.

John Beck is still on the team.

The practice squad as it stands now looks like this:

WR – Anthony Armstron

LB – Tyson Smith

LB – Rob Ninkovich

DT – Anthony Toribio

OL – Darren Heerspink

TE – Matthew Mulligan

CB – Will Billingsley

RB – Lex Hilliard
