Ted Ginn: "Worst Season Ever"

facebooktwitterreddit

Ted Ginn has stated that this Miami Dolphins season has been his worst ever.  Not his rookie season when he didn’t squat except drop passes, not last season when he didn’t do much more than drop passes, this year, when he dropped passes but added a TD receiving and 2 TD’s on run backs against the Jets.  And this is his worst?  Ted Ginn is just a bit out of touch.  Just a bit.

"“This is my worst season playing football. Period, from a little guy to now,” Ginn, 24, said Thursday. “I’m not looking at it like that, but it has been rough.”“Every time you see somebody, ‘You got to catch the ball,’ ” Ginn said they tell him. “I still get it to this day, from little kids to grown people.”"

The second quote is my favorite.  “from little kids to grown people”.  “Grown people”?  As in adults?  Ted Ginn has never been a fan favorite and in fact, the rest of the Ted Ginn family have been more accepted than Ted Ginn himself.  And no, they never really put on a jersey…at least not one that was used during a game…which also means a Ted Ginn game worn uni…because of course his jerseys are always clean.

Ted Ginn has the speed, but he doesn’t know how to use it.  Unfortunately for Ginn, it ends there.  He doesn’t have the hands of a WR and he doesn’t have the vision of a true threat kick-returner.  He doesn’t have the quickness of thought to process his cuts and he loves the sidelines…as in out of bounds, not racing down them.  He doesn’t have the ability to get off chuck blocks and is virtually worthless across the middle.  All things that everyone already knows.

Of late, Ginn has 8 first downs on 11 catches.  The problem is that is over 5 games, that’s like 1 percentage point of 2 catches per game and less than 2 first downs a game.  “I’ve never really had the type of downpoint I had in the middle of the year,” he said “But as far as now, I’m cool. I’m back. I’m just trying to finish out the season strong.”

And there is where the problem with Ted Ginn lies.  It’s not in his hands or his lack of vision, it’s his lack of effort.  Ginn is satisfied with 11 over 5 saying, “I’m back”.  Back from where exactly?  The movies?  Sorry Ted, you were never really here.  Last season Ginn had 58 catches on the season.  That averages out to be just over 3 catches a game.  Seriously.  Ginn also stated that he wants to finish the season strong.  If that is the case, by his own definition, he should be able to catch 2 balls this week and 2 next week.  SUCCESS.

Ginn has 2 years left on his 5 year rookie deal but hopefully, the management in Miami view this as two games left on his contract and rid themselves of him this off-season.  Somehow I get the feeling like that won’t happen.  Ginn said he wants to finish his career in Miami and that may in fact happen.  With the way he plays, I can’t imagine there are a ton of teams out there that would be willing to bring him in.  Not for 2 catches a game.
