Calvin Pryor, New York Jets
Calvin Pryor was selected with the 18th overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Pryor, who came out of Louisville as a safety, has impressed the coaching staff through rookie camp, as well as OTA’s.
Pryor compares his game style to current players like Seattle’s Kam Chancellor, and Tampa Bay’s Dashon Goldson. Pryor has been notable for his big time hits, and his comparison to these two safeties is a good one.
The New York Jets finished 19th in passing points allowed per game, with an average of 24.2. Secondary was definitely a position the Jets wanted to fill, and they may have done so through the draft.
Pryor is projected to be the starter for the Jets come week one, and his young hard-hitting game style will be an interesting shake up to the AFC East.
