Charles Clay joined the Miami Dolphins in 2011 after being selected in the 6th round. He would play four seasons for the Dolphins before becoming a free agent in 2015. Clay became one of the Dolphins best offensive players after a slow start to his career. In the last two seasons, Clay became a favorite target of Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Clay entered the 2015 off-season as a free agent where he immediately gained attention from the Buffalo Bills. Long negotiations between the Bills and the Dolphins took place and after a week of negotiations, the Bills signed the H-back, fullback, tight end hybrid to a lucrative contract. The Dolphins, who had signed Jordan Cameron, opted to not match the Bills offer.
Clay is already becoming a reliable addition to the Bills. In Miami he was one of the Dolphins locker room leaders and he has already established himself as such in Buffalo.
Over his career, Clay has 161 receptions for 1,809 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns. He also has one touchdown rushing.
