Bill Lazor

Let’s start in house. Lazor isn’t a front runner for any head coaching jobs in the NFL. In fact, with the way the Dolphins are performing right now, he may not be headed to an offensive coordinator position either. Here’s the nutshell. Lazor is young and has shown signs of being innovative. He has done a lot of good things with Ryan Tannehill and has a lot of weapons on offense. That all being said, I don’t see this really being Lazor’s offense. In fact it reeks of Joe Philbin’s fingerprint.

Ask one simple question. Does this offense look more like Mike Sherman’s or more like Chip Kelly’s? If you answered Kelly’s you would be wrong. This offense is very vanilla and is run with a slow tempo. That isn’t the West Coast spread. Bill Lazor is calling the shots but can anyone really stand here today and tell me that Lazor is going to be this conservative if given the chance to open things up?

Lazor has a lot of growing to do as a coach but if Philbin should get terminated mid-season then Lazor should be promoted to head coach and we can track his progress from there. I really think there are a lot of aspects in this offensive system that we haven’t seen.
