After a shocking self-made video of Miami Dolphins offensive line coach Chris Foerster surfaced last night of him snorting cocaine, he has now resigned from his position.

Late Sunday night a video surfaced of Chris Foerster surfaced snorting a white powder that is now being called cocaine. Today, Foerster is out of a job. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Foerster has taken responsibility for his actions and the Dolphins have accepted his resignation.

The resignation is not surprising given the nature of the video which you can see here. Foerster is in his second year with the Dolphins under Adam Gase but previously had been with Miami In 2004 serving as the teams offensive coordinator.

Backlash over the issue won’t directly affect the image of the Dolphins even if it comes to light that the video was shot in the offices. The Dolphins were not aware of Foerster’s problem. The question now becomes what will Foerster do now?

There is no way that Foerster will be given another chance in the NFL at least not until he performs some form of rehab. The NFL will also likely suspend Foerster as coaches, although not drug tested, are still under the NFL umbrella of discipline. DUI’s have cost other coaches significant time away from their team. This video will most assuredly put Foerster on the suspension list.

There is an obvious problem for Foerster who needs help. Hopefully he not only gets that help but also seeks that help.

For now the Dolphins have not announced who the replacement will be but in the immediate future one of the assistant coaches will likely handle the duties. It is also unknown if the Dolphins will look outside the organization for a replacement.

Whatever happens to Foerster now is out of his hands but his recovery is in his hands. Let us hope he can find that road to getting help.
